St. James, Lt. Clacton
LITTLE CLACTON (St. James) has a plastered nave and chancel,
and a belfry. In the chancel is a north window, and in the nave
a plain Norman doorway. The south porch is of timber, sturdy and
unadorned, probably of the 14th. century, as too are the windows,
and the north and south doors. The belfry, which stands on four
posts, has tie-beams and curved braces.
The Font is of the square, Purbeck type, and has four
blank shallow round-headed arches onn each side. It is of the late
12th. century.
