St.Michael and All Angels, Manningtree
MANNINGTREE (St. Michael and All Angels) - The west wall and the north aisle, which has Late Perpendicular windows, both date from 1616. The first of the north piers, of the same time, is of oak with a section that is roughly circular with shafts in the diagonals. The braces, and roof of a curious hammerbeam variety, are also of 1616, but the rest is essentially 1839, when a chancel of white brick with round-arched windows was added. There is a reredos which is probably of the early 18th. century. The Plate is a Cup, Cover, and two Patens which were given in 1633 by Laud, who was at that time Bishop of London. |
