HARWICH (St. Nicholas) was built in 1821 by M. G. Thompson on the site of an earlier church, and is of Gothic style, and of the lean Commissioners' type. It is of Yellow brick, and has a tall west tower with a spire, and is flanked on each side by the north and south castellated porches. The interior of the nave and aisles, with three galleries, and two-storeyed windows, with very thin piers carrying a sham groined vault. The chancel ..... with is as tall as the nave .... is polygonal, with only one tier of large windows.

The Stained Glass of the west window is original, with borders and shields.

The Font is from the early 13th. century and is of octagonal Purbeck marble, but is of an unusual type with two shallow blank pointed arches on each side.

The Painting above the altar which depicts “ Moses giving the Law” is said to be by William Paris and dates back to 1700. And the earliest piece of Plate is a Paten of 1683.
