Little Holland

HOLLAND (LITTLE) is a small parish adjoining Great Holland, and 5 miles S.W. of Walton-le-Soken. It has only 75 inhabitants and 646 acres of land, bounded by the sea on the east, and by Holland on the north. Its church has long been in ruins, and the benifice, which is donative, is consolidated with the village of Great Clacton, as noticed. It has only one acre of glebe, and £55 a year in lieu of tithes. Robert Hills, Esq., owns most of the soil, and is lord of the manor, formerly held by the Bataile, Darcy, Dawes, Corsellis, and other families. Within the last 20 years more than 20A. of land in this parish has been washed away by the ocean. The farmers are Wm. Cole, Bushells, or Bennetts; Frederick Laws, Hall Farm; and Thos. Petchells, bailiff.
